For the full review, complete with analysis, image samples, and video samples, visit www.infosyncworld.com infoSync World gets an exclusive look at the Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS with a back-illuminated 10-megapixel CMOS sensor, bright f/2.0 aperture, and Super Slow Motion video recording.
@JohnLeeMD Look at it this way. Low light performance addicts will want the SD4000 for the f/2.0. Those who want an all around experience will want the SD4500 IS, which still offers great image quality in low light, but a larger zoom and 1080p.
@infosyncvideos So, are you guys saying that (the SD4000) even equipped with the f2.0 lens, the SD4500 outperforms under low-light?
The way I looked at this comparison was the SD4000 was better at night/indoor, and the SD4500 does more all-around. And I came to the conclusion that instead of ONE all-around (e.g. SD4500), I’d go with TWO cameras to cover the bases. It’s clear they gave the SD4500 more bell/whistles… I just thought that the 4000’s f2 lens gave it a significant leg up. Wrong?
@JohnLeeMD It was a new type of camera that came out of left field at the time. Canon has significantly improved upon it with the SD4500 IS, and the Nikon Coolpix S8100 gives it some stiff competition. Low light at high ISO levels are great, and that’s what’s key in this department. Don’t be so concerned with specs–it’s our time in the field that matters.
I may be reading too much into this, but I’ve watched your *great* reviews on this camera, the SD4500, and the Nikon S8100/SD4500 comparison videos. In this one, when you discuss this one’s low-light capability, it seems your endorsement of it’s capability is a bit… muted (i.e. forced). And in the other two videos, you seem much more enthusiastic and firm in your opinion that they take good low-light photos. When the specs would tend to favor this camera under low-light conditions.
@infosyncvideos = You look like a stud, so I’m sure the women wouldn’t mind YOU filming them disrobe. Back to cameras – $500 G12 for 2.8 aperture lens? Doesn’t make sense to me. Still quality must be better, per specs, for S95 no? I;m dying to test LX5 though… love step zoom feature as “people pics” always better at 35mm length vs distorted 28-24mm. Take it from me – I take 1,000s And need portability (hide in pocket) in foreign countries. G12 is a small brick.
@IamDickee Your profession really intrigues me. Looking for an assistant? As far as a camera, why don’t you wait for our Canon PowerShot G12 review? Also, the S95 is going to be killer — we’ll get that in next week.
@infosyncvideos = Perlman, you’re a genius…. S95 is out baby! But I’m gonna end up going with the SX210 for small zoom camera and Lumix LX5 for my primary pocket rocket. Good choice? Have LOTS of women to film.
hye you tube since there r many genius here so i want yours help listen guys this is what i want i want a digital camera well have no money issue i am interested in buy ing a touch screen camera well there r just tooo many options and the things which confuses me that i dont have an idea that which camera came 1st in the market what the new model and whats old …….. so pls guys recommend somrthing to me which is very impressive??? and also give me some reasons toooo
I don’t think the lack of full manual control is a deal-breaker. Those who view full manual control as a necessity don’t expect it in pocket size, and often have access to a DSLR for situations that require full-manual control. For everyone else who doesn’t need it–or for those who view aperture and shutter priorities as being “close enough” for the ultracompact segment, the SD4000’s low-light performance provides plenty of attraction.
